Online PvP and Tours — split-screen unconfirmed.

At A Glance

STAR WARS: Galactic Racer multiplayer on the live SKU is online PvP: Quick Race, Quick Pod Race, Multiplayer Tour, and Pod Racing Tour. STAR WARS: Galactic Racer lists Single-player and Online PvP on Steam app 4078430 — not Shared/Split Screen, and not a Cross-Platform Multiplayer store tag. Verified October 7, 2026.

Cross-play is a real search. This page will not invent a yes from a missing Steam feature. Split-screen is the same: community asks why it is missing; previews said they had not seen a couch option. Campaign, Arcade, and Scenario sit beside PvP — they are not a local co-op SKU.

What is STAR WARS: Galactic Racer multiplayer?

Steam’s own feature list is the floor: Online PvP. Public materials add multiplayer Tours — a championship of heats with the same lobby, Parts, Abilities, and XP. Developer comments: XP from online play unlocks extra racers and cosmetics; even a missed win can still pay XP if you correctly predict the champion. That is online reputation, not a couch SKU.

Why searchers land here

SIM demand clusters on STAR WARS: Galactic Racer multiplayer, cross play, and split screen. The honest answer is three sentences: online racing exists; Steam tags Online PvP; Steam does not tag split-screen or cross-play. Everything else on this page is how those online queues actually play, plus the caveats you should paste into LFG.

Deluxe banners are cosmetics, not a fifth mode

Deluxe Edition includes a multiplayer Player Banner (insignia + background) and three Kor Sarun hulls. That is a store SKU extra, not a private-match type. Standard still gets online PvP.

Next: which of the four queues matches the night you actually have.

Which online modes should I queue?

Launch copy and mode select describe four online buckets. Quick modes are one-and-done. Online Tours are a multi-heat championship that keeps the same lobby and lets you spend like a short Campaign run. Heat count is whatever the live menu prints — this wiki will not freeze a preview “five races.”

Online Tour heat already rolling — pack racing from a late join
QueueFieldBetween heatsPick when…
Quick RaceLandspeeder / Bike / Skim — check lobby capNone — no Tour shopYou want one chaotic heat
Quick Pod RacePods — check lobby capNoneYou only want pods tonight
Multiplayer TourThree chassis, several heatsCredits, Parts, Abilities, contracts, wagersYou have time and want builds
Pod Racing TourPods only, several heatsSame Tour shop loopYou want Mos Espa energy without mixing hulls

Tours keep the lobby on purpose

Heats rotate planets. Preview notes called the closer a merged / celebration-style track — a bigger payoff race, not extra random nodes. Because the lobby persists, ramjet grief on heat 1 is still in your mirrors later. Marked rivals (player-to-player mark) exist so you can hunt a gamertag instead of the whole grid.

Quick Race is not a tiny Tour

Coverage of Fuse preview sessions: Quick Race modes do not give you the between-heat Parts treadmill. You take the Style you queued and you drive. If you wanted to grow Battery and Vent across five purchases, that is Tour, not Quick.

What an online Tour actually spends

Between heats you earn Credits and can buy Parts and Abilities the same way Campaign does. Recaps mention pre-race contracts, a wager on your own finishing band, and a predict-the-champion beat so account XP is not all-or-nothing — confirm those screens in the live HUD. That loop is why STAR WARS: Galactic Racer multiplayer Tours feel like a short run instead of a single lobby timer.

Player-count and couch questions are the next section — do not skip it before you promise a living-room session.

Is there cross-play or split-screen?

Split-screen: not confirmed. Steam’s feature row for STAR WARS: Galactic Racer is Single-player and Online PvP. It does not list Shared/Split Screen. Pre-release coverage said they had not seen a split-screen option and that the studio had not announced one. Community search still asks “why no splitscreen.” This wiki will not sell couch co-op until a store or patch note does.

Cross-play: also not a Steam Cross-Platform Multiplayer feature tag as of this verify date. Launch-week players talked as if mixed-platform matchmaking was on, then immediately wondered why they were not seeing Xbox icons (or whether Xbox appears as PC). That is rumor-grade. Until Fuse, Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox print the pairing (all three / PS+PC only / etc.), treat STAR WARS: Galactic Racer multiplayer cross-play as TBA.

Do not write “yes” in an LFG post

If you need a friend on the same sofa, wait for an official line or refund against platforms expectations. If you need a friend on another brand of box, look at the live party UI and the store tags the morning you play — this page will not freeze a rumor into a fact.

Local vs online is also a Campaign question

Shade’s story is a solo Tour. Arcade and Scenario are solo challenges. Online is the only place a packed lobby trying to wreck you is the design. Mixing those sentences is how refund tickets get written.

Assuming you are online, the next problem is what to buy before the second Tour heat.

What should I bring into a Tour lobby?

Multiplayer Tour reuses Campaign verbs: Racer Style, Parts (up to five), Abilities, Credits between heats, optional contracts, optional wagers. Quick Race skips most of that. If you have not driven Afterburner versus Ramjet in Campaign, do the beginner guide before you donate a whole Tour.

Online lobby Ramjet and Afterburner in a packed heat
SlotPvP default (Tour 1)Skip until…
StyleSomething you already raced in CampaignA named ramjet Style you cannot cool
Afterburner / BatteryYes — repeat boostEmptying it into a freeze malfunction
RamjetShort bursts for takedownsYou still explode in solo
ShieldPacked midfieldYou only ever lead on empty straights
VentIf Ramjet / Redliner is the planYou never prime Ramjet
ContractsPick a goal you can see on any planetTrack-unknown + greedy payout
Wager on yourselfOnly with spare CreditsYou are crash-1 and already last

Contracts and wagers are optional tax

Pre-race you can take a contract (mini objective) and you can bet on your own finishing band for extra Credits. Launch sessions: contracts are hard to judge when the next planet is hidden; backing yourself on a packed grid while you still owe Vent is how you enter a later heat broke. Predict-the-champion XP at Tour end is a separate payout — you can still gain account XP when you do not take the trophy.

Takedowns are the scoreboard, not the win condition

You can bank dozens of shunts and still lose the Tour aggregate. Drive the cutoff, then hunt. Pod queues are a smaller field and a more brittle hull — treat them like a different game, not a skin on Quick Race.

Loadout picked, here is the actual click-path into a session.

How do I actually get into a race?

There is no public lobby-code meta on this wiki. Use the in-game online menu on the SKU you bought, then use Discord if you need a party.

Pre-race contracts and mini-objectives before a Tour heat
  • Do01Patch to the live build on Steam, PS5, or Xbox Series
  • Do02Finish enough Campaign that Ramjet has an off-button (see the beginner guide)
  • Do03Open the multiplayer / online tile — not Arcade, not Scenario
  • Do04Pick Quick Race for one heat or Multiplayer Tour / Pod Racing Tour for a multi-heat run
  • Do05Set Style and Favor before ready; Quick Race will not shop mid-session
  • Do06Party: check the live cap (launch reports said three) — do not promise a six-stack
  • Do07Do not advertise split-screen or guaranteed cross-play
  • Do08LFG on the official game Discord: discord.gg/starwarsgalacticracer
  • Do09Ignore Nitro-giveaway DMs and “private lobby codes” from randoms

Joining a Tour mid-event

Launch-day sessions dropped people into a Tour that had already started. That is catch-up Credits and a shop with worse information, not a bug unique to you. Play the remaining heats or back out and requeue a fresh Tour if the Token fantasy matters more than XP.

Where this page stops

Exact MMR, ranked seasons, and a full Style win-rate sheet are not in public dumps yet. Chassis physics stay on vehicles. SKU caveats (Deck, Switch 2, Game Pass) stay on platforms.
